The OS interface is very nice, I would love to have it implemented as an option.
But there are alot of other things that I feel should have priority. (in place edit, frontend generators, crud via ext_js, associations, etc)
I would implement the OS interface as an add-on, or version 2.0 option. Maby even as its own plugin.

AdobeAir, with Ext extend the fatures of web, so u can have a desktop client (multiplatform) for manage the entire admin of your site.
